Nothing is simpler than publishing your family tree into the Internet. All you have to do is to save your data in a GEDCOM file and send it to the webmaster. GEDCOM (Genealogy Data Communication) is a file format used to exchange data between genealogy programs. We accept standard GEDCOM files created with the help of any genealogy software program.
DoroTree can import and export GEDCOM data from other programs. As the Hebrew in DoroTree is not part of the GEDCOM standard, it may get lost when importing DoroTree generated GEDCOM files to other programs. DoroTree is trying to import Hebrew fields from other GEDCOM files, which include Hebrew data. This is done by using the "Special Import" feature in the File GEDCOM menu.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that all relevant data is entered in Roman characters; data in Hebrew characters would not be recognized. Before running the export, DoroTree will show you the GEDCOM Options dialog box, where you can choose between exporting all fields or non-Hebrew fields only or between exporting all persons in your database or only all direct descendants (including spouses) from a certain ancestor (the current person). Default is all fields and all persons. To export GEDCOM data from the currently open family tree, just follow the instructions:

GEDCOM 5.5 - will export source records using 5.5 style pointers. This is the cleanest export and the one you must choose in order to submit your family tree with the Douglas E. Goldman Jewish Genealogy Center at Beth Hatefutsoth.
pre-GEDCOM 5.5 - will export source records imbedded in the record. This can result in duplicate source data when the file is imported into another program. However, most programs understand this format.
"HaMishpachah Sheli" (“My Family”, in Hebrew), is a genealogy software in Hebrew, the first version was developed in 1988. Hamishpachah Sheli exports information recorded in Hebrew to the GEDCOM 5.51 format. It is therefore possible to combine, without difficulty, information in Hebrew and in Latin characters for use in other applications. Hamishpachah Sheli is also capable of making use of Hebrew information from other genealogical applications. In order to publish your family trees it is necessary to record names of people and places in Hebrew and Latin characters. Here are the instructions for the export of your family record to the GEDCOM 5.51 format:
- Select “English", click the “OK” button and in the dialog box which appears click again “OK”
- A dialog box will appear in order to provide the submitter details for the family tree. Fill the check box next to "Diminishment of spaces between words". "Click “OK”
- Finally, a file browser dialog box will appear. The name for the file is “family” and it will be created in the directory where the exporting family record file is located, although both of these defaults can be changed.
