Gilad Japhet, 36, is the CEO of MyHeritage Ltd., a new genealogy startup based in Israel, which he founded in 2003. At MyHeritage, Mr. Japhet combines his passion for genealogy and software development to advance genealogy with cutting-edge technology. Previously, he managed the BRM anti-virus research unit, acquired by Symantec, and supervised product management in Israeli startups SpearHead, Picatel and BackWeb Technologies. At BackWeb, he helped propel the company from its inception into a successful public company on NASDAQ. Mr. Japhet holds a B.Sc. summa cum laude in Computer Science from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.
