JFRA VOLUNTEERS HONOURED AT YAD VASHEM

JFRA volunteers were among those honoured recently at Yad Vashem's "Volunteers' Appreciation Day". Addressing the volunteers, Chairman of the Executive Avner Shalev emphasized that "without the volunteers we could not do our work the way we do. You are an integral part of our work and part of the Yad Vashem family."

Volunteers assist in virtually all the Yad Vashem departments. JFRA members have been extremely active this past year and a half in the "Names Recovery Project." Visiting Holocaust survivors in their private residences and as part of Yad Vashem teams in Senior Citizens' homes, JFRA members assist in creating Pages of Testimony to ensure that every victim is memorialized in Yad Vashem's Hall of Names. So far, only about half the 6,000,000 who perished have an individual Page of Testimony; it is now a race against time as even the child survivors are reaching old age. Details of the project can be found on Yad Vashem's website, where Pages of Testimony can be downloaded and/or filled in on-line. http://www.yadvashem.org/
